Case Study: Study Advice Centres at Hogeschool Inholland

Project lead: Jacqueline van Alten

Challenge #1

"Enhance the match between students and programmes"

Challenge #2

"Provide realistic programme insights to prospective students"

Challenge #3

"Establish on-location advisory services to improve study choice"

About the project

To address the need for a more personalised approach to study advice, we established physical centres within every Inholland campus. These centres were created to offer potential students direct guidance and realistic insights into which study programmes could match with which student. While part of the school, the centres were (and are) completely independent, to allow the advisers to recommend study options outside the school as well.

Setting up
the centres

The key to a successful centre was in recruiting skilled advisers, and developing comprehensive information materials, tools and testing methods. A communication plan helped to ensure our advisors would stay informed about any new developments, while campaigns helped attract potential student visitors.

Recruitment
& Information

The centres enabled a significant advancement in how students interact with the programme offer. By providing a space for open personal dialogue, we significantly improved potential students' decision-making process. It inspired and affirmed their choice regarding the education that would lead to their ideal career. Jacqueline also coordinated the production of Study Choice Test, a school-specific tool that matches potential students with their ideal Inholland programme.
